During the intro, after the Sega logo fades out but before the Game Arts logo fades in, hold A. After the Game Arts logo fades out but before the Gainax logo fades in, release A and hold B. After the Gainax logo fades out but before the “Music composed by Mecano Associates” text fades in, release B and hold C. When the “Music composed by Mecano Associates” text fades out, press Start. A confirmation tone sounds.

During gameplay, press A on controller 2 to enter frame advance mode. The game advances one frame each time you tap A. Press B on controller 2 to exit frame advance mode.

While holding a button on controller 1, release frame advance mode to trigger additional effects:

Up – Refills hit points.
Left – Levels up the lightning attack.
Right – Levels up the monster companion.
B – Hyper lightning (kills enemies and bosses in one hit).

During gameplay, press C on controller 2. The screen fades to black. Then immediately hold one of the following button combinations on controller 2 to go to the desired stage.
