Code: Level Select (and Level Skip)

At the title screen, press B, A, Right, A, C, Up, Down, A. (This spells BARACUDA.) If done correctly, you are taken to the main menu. Choosing Start now takes you to the level select screen.

While the level select code is active, a level skip is unlocked. During paused gameplay, press A to go to the next level.

Note: The game’s error handler first shows a screen that says C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S YOU HAVE FOUND THE SECRET LEVEL SELECT SCREEN before taking you to the level select. This alternate method is why some suggest “cartridge tilting” to access the level select. I advise against this because it could damage your hardware.

Secret: Unlock Level Select (and Level Skip)

Beat the game with all seven chaos emeralds. Choosing Start at the main menu then takes you to the level select screen (same as the code). This also activates the same level skip ability.

Verified using ROM with CRC32 of 44a2ca44 with US console region.
